~ Caleb ~

Caleb Enoch died at 17 weeks gestation to an exceedingly rare second trimester cord accident.

He was born on January 8, 2010, 5:18pm at 17 weeks and 4 days.

Caleb weighed 4.9 ounces and was 8.6 inches long.

The cord was wrapped tightly around his neck twice, his belly once, and swelling of his left thigh tells us his leg was caught up in it as well.

Caleb's time of birth is a sweet sweet gift from the Lord - 5.18 is the date of our wedding anniversary. In military time this is 1718 - Caleb spent 17 weeks living, growing, and playing inside of me and we spent 18 precious hours loving on him after he was born.

Caleb is survived by his parents, 5 living siblings, his maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Caleb is preceeded in death by 7 tiny siblings, his paternal grandparents, and an uncle who died at the same gestation.

"You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book." ~ Psalm 56:8

Favorite Quotes:

“To be right with God has often meant to be in trouble with men.” A.W. TOZER

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It's not." Dr. Seuss

"False friendship, like the ivy, decays and ruins the walls it embraces; but true friendship gives new life and animation to the object it supports.... ~ Unknown"

"Oh that God would give every mother a vision of the glory and splendor of the work that is given to her when a babe is place in her bosom to be nursed and trained...she would see that in all God's world there is no other work so noble and so worthy of her best powers, and she would commit to no others hands the sacred... and holy trust given to her." - JR Miller

". . .the Lord does not in vain prepare nutriment for children in their mothers' bosoms, before they are born. But those on whom he confers the honor of mothers, he, in this way, constitutes nurses; and they who deem it a hardship to nourish their own offspring, break, as far as they are able, the sacred bond of nature. If disease, or anything of that kind, is the hindrance, they have a just excuse; but for mothers voluntarily, and for their own pleasure, to avoid the trouble of nursing, and thus to make themselves only half-mothers, is a shameful corruption." - John Calvin on Genesis 21:7"

"A child of God will never face a circumstance that exceeds His grace. When we have no resources of our own, His resources have not begun to be depleted. When we are weak. He is strong. "~ Unknown

"Children aren't expensive, lifestyles are.""If one child takes up all your time, six can't take up any more." ~ Katherine Gillingham Howard (missionary)

"Our present enjoyment of God's grace tends to be lessened by the memory of yesterday's sins and blunders. But God is the God of our yesterdays, and He allows the memory of them to turn the past into a ministry of spiritual growth for our future." ~Oswald Chambers

"There is a geography to redemption, a way in which the ideals of grace and renewal make themselves real in this world. All of creation is groaning for its redemption, and we join in that chorus. We are surrounded on all sides by the forest of our failures, our dirty feet fighting the thorny underbrush. Or we wander the used-up cities of cement dreams and strip-mall seductions. This is where we live. But to us who are weary and broken, the God of redemption gives the plains, and a view of the land that we have yet to claim, yet to sow, yet to reap. Here there is space and a chance, to make all things new... the land of redemption, where signs of promise abound, where the reptiles witness, where the rocks cry out, and and where hope stretches as far as the lazy eye can see. This is where we, with trembling hands, toil and subdue. And where the rain of grace pounds the dirt until life breaks through the mud and reaches for the sun." ~ Caedmon's Call

"I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen - not only because I see it but because by it I see everything else." -- C.S. Lewis

"No human circumstances transcend the bounds of God's redemption, and no emotional wound is beyond His ability to heal." ~ Unknown

"There's such a lot of different Anne's in me. I sometimes think that is why I'm such a troublesome person. If I was just one Anne it would be ever so much more comfortable but then it wouldn't be half so interesting. ~ Anne in Anne of the Island"

"Whoa... I just accidentally spelled commies instead of mommies." (He was reading about Tories and got 3 words jumbled together in his head! LOL) Elijah, age 9 (almost 10)

"Wherever you go, you go. And there you are."

Luke, age 12 (almost 13!)

"I really don't understand why people like football. It's just a bunch of guys running around with a ball and tackling each other." Emelia, age 10, on Super Bowl 43.

"Mom, which vicinity is your tooth brush in?" Elijah, age almost 9 out of no where just because he's the resident weirdo.

"I am giddy with ecstasy." Luke, age 12 after being told that yes they could each have a piece of candy from their Christmas stockings.
